Lawyers are paid a retaining fee upon hiring, whatever they set. If the amount of time needed exceeds what their retainer covered they are paid when they are finished, which should be closing.

May 17th, 2010Interest rates are going to go up and the tax credit is going to expire. Home buyers will not be able to borrow money very easily and I think housing will go down.
I think they’ll keep spelling it "real estate".
How to go about buying land in the Hill Country?
May 9th, 2010My husband and I live in DFW and would like to purchase 5acres in the Hill Country. I know the Hill Country encompasses several cities so bare with me. How would we go about finding a realestate agent in the area? I already tried googling it but none of the realtors had critiques and would appreciate insider help.
First of all, plan on spending a ton of money. Not a lot…a TON. The Hill Country has become wildly popular, and those good folks up there know it, and they’re laughing all the way to the bank.
Secondly, if you’re looking for five acre tracts, they’re likely to be found in gated subdivisions with pretty tight restrictions, or in backwoods areas with NO restrictions (mobile homes and junk cars). The likelihood of finding a friendly farmer who will lop off a corner of his pasture to sell you is slim to none.
Third, Google real estate agents in the following areas: Boerne, Comfort, Bandera, Fredericksburg (a TON of money), Blanco and Kerrville. These areas are in the "hilly-est" parts of the Hill Country. Century 21 real estate agents in these areas tend to be pretty reliable. You can also check out Trulia.com and enter any of these town names. There are, of course, lots of other towns in the Hill Country, but these seem to be the most popular. (Insider tip: take a look at www.doehneoaks.com)

April 20th, 2010For starters the Tea party Movement claims to be protesting higher taxes, Only 3% of Tea Party members poled are aware that taxes have been lowered for 95% of working families. Financial experts / Wall Street Brokers say that all indicators point to a strong economic recovery in the next 2 years! " The #s dont lie". Even the housing market is expected to come back strong in 2011, some saying there will even be a housing shortage! Are the Republicans just using the Tea Party and Fox news to put out Scary prediction just to get Democrats voted out before things get better so they can take credit for the recovery like GW Bush did following Clinton?

My favorite line has to be "taxes weren’t lowered, they just weren’t raised (yet)". Which goes completely against what the Tea Baggers have been saying, that Obama started raising taxes before he was even in office, and that the government has been rooting through their wallets for over a year now.
Listing ad removed from bulk feed months ago, but it still appears on Yahoo?
March 31st, 2010We send a bulk feed to Yahoo Real Estate every night. One real estate listing in that feed was removed last September, but the listing will not leave Yahoo. According to the info on this site, individual users are told to tell their bulk feed provider to remove the info from the feed and the listing will go away. In this case, it is not true and Yahoo has removed the option to contact them as a member (though they rarely answered anyway). Perhaps someone else out there has a clue what we can do to force Yahoo to remove the old property that has not been for sale in 6 months.

There is a Yahoo Team member who oversees each of the different categories on the site. But none of them seem excited about the Real Estate section. All the effort goes into Finance, Sports, and Shine.

realestate short sale?
March 25th, 2010has anyone done this short sale thing? I need to know process,procedure…were u scammed? screwed? I need advice. Firm wants power of attorney over the proprty..is that a normal procedure? what about putting the home in a trust fund…what does that mean?
What you meantioned I’ve never heard of. Do NOT give anyone power of attorney. That is crazy!! And why would you want to put it in a trust?
If your goal is to get rid of the property, talk to an attorney and an accountant to understand the legal and tax ramifications.
I’ve done several short sales for clients and recommend you connect with a realtor who is knowledgable in Short Sales. She/he can get you in contact with an accountant and lawyer, if you don’t know of one.

How are Banksters doing lately with all that Frozen Assets in RealEstate?
March 9th, 2010Local and State and Federal tax plus lawn care and maintanance must be taking its toll. The cold weather makes it harder to take care of abandon property in particular since the pipes can break if left unchecked.
They are sitting on them until the market really improve. See what happened to Silverado S&L back in the 1990’s. In the late 90’s, the assets were sold for a huge profit.
